Our members know that mounting legal suits against polluters can be complicated and expensive, that educating the public demands persistence and funding, and that protecting the drinking water supply of more than 9 million people takes diligence and resources. And they believe that those are causes worth supporting.

Our funders come in all sizes and income brackets. Thankfully, we have some supporters who can enthusiastically make contributions of thousands of dollars. But the vast majority of donors are people who contribute 10, 25, 100 or 500 dollars, because that is what they can afford and because they know how important Riverkeeper's work is to the communities we serve. We have one supporter who for the last ten years has been donating a dollar for each car his shop services. This has amounted to thousands of dollars over time. Another supporter gives a percentage of each commission she earns on real estate sales. Others give in more traditional ways by making a monthly pledge or an annual gift, by coming to one of our fund-raising events, or even by making a bequest.
