September 10, 2014
Riverkeeper Team
We’re on patrol going north from Kingston today. Here’s what we’re seeing along the Hudson.
First light, Rondout Creek in Kingston:
Scientists from Queens College and Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory are with us. Here they pull a sample of Hudson River water from depth of 32 feet:
A DNA sample helps define what micro-scale stuff lives here:
Boom! The old SL Cement-Catskill silos are being dismantled as we pass by:
Riverkeeper's Capt. John Lipscomb hauls in anchor after a stop, one of the 70+ sites we sample along the Hudson:
Hudson Athens Lighthouse. Nothing wrong with a LITTLE sighteeing while on Riverkeeper patrol, I hope:
Hi, Sloop Clearwater!
Parting shot. Riverkeeper talks to Sloop Clearwater crew, then on to Waterford. Me, I'm taking Amtrak home.
