Riverkeeper stands firmly with Black people and all communities of color as they fight for the right to live, and we unequivocally condemn the murder of George Floyd and countless other Black Americans. We strive to base our work and relationships on trust, respect, integrity, and justice and we believe that a world in which people and nature thrive alongside one another is impossible unless we are all free from violence and racism.
We are not the experts here. Riverkeeper is beginning its own work on racial justice, equity, and inclusion and will do what it can to support justice and respect in our communities. We ask that you consider becoming familiar with and supporting the work of environmental justice organizations in Minneapolis, MN, and the following environmental justice organizations in our watershed:
- NYC Environmental Justice Alliance and its member organizations
- The Sanctuary for Independent Media (mediasanctuary.org)
- WEACT for Environmental Justice
