On September 22, 2011, Riverkeeper testified at the New York City Council Committee on Environmental Protection’s public hearing on hydraulic fracturing (“hydrofracking”). Chief among the concerns we expressed to the Council is that DEC continues to rush the regulatory process, seriously limiting the public’s opportunity to have their concerns about hydrofracking actually influence DEC’s decision-making.
