Building on Rivekeeper’s key educational efforts
February 7, 2025
For the first time, thanks to the support of the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust, Riverkeeper and the Media Sanctuary’s popular “Source to Estuary” summer course will be fully funded and college-accredited. The course traces the drinking water in Troy, NY from its source, the Tomhannock Reservoir, to its return to the Hudson River via the Rensselaer wastewater treatment plant. The course allows students to gain a deeper understanding of and connection to where their water comes from, where it goes, and what happens to it along the way, all through the lens of land use and conservation, Indigenous legacy and land relations, and drinking water advocacy and activism.
