On Saturday, September 21, Riverkeeper held the first ever Rally on the River at the Factoria in Peekskill, to bring people together for a common cause: the Hudson River. The inaugural event attracted almost 275 runners, kayakers, yoga enthusiasts and music lovers picture perfect day.
Rally on the River featured the Surf and Turf Challenge, a 5k run/walk along the streets and Riverwalk path in Peekskill and a 5k kayak paddle from Lent’s Cove into and around Peekskill Bay, as well as yoga overlooking the Hudson at sunset. Rally on the River was a huge success thanks to the dedication of a wonderful group of volunteers and of course our staff who was on hand to not only manage the event but several of whom participated in the 5k races and yoga.
Riverkeeper hopes to make Rally on the River an annual event, reaching more communities along the river to strengthen their relationship with the Hudson River and help more people to appreciate and advocate for our waterways.
Please join us in congratulating this year’s Surf & Turf Challenge Champions!
